I have a surface pro – can I use 65W charger or does it have to be a 44W?

The power supply requirements for Microsoft Surface Pro devices can vary depending on the specific model. However, Microsoft generally designs its devices to be compatible with various power supply wattages.

If you have a Surface Pro and are considering using a 65W charger instead of a 44W charger, it should generally be safe. The Surface Pro should only draw the power it needs, and using a higher wattage charger can provide additional power if required, but it won’t force more power into the device than it can handle.

In summary, using a 65W charger with your Surface Pro should be fine and may even provide faster charging if the device supports it. Always ensure that the connector and voltage match the requirements for your Surface Pro model. If you have any concerns, you can refer to the official Microsoft documentation for your specific Surface Pro model or contact Microsoft support for confirmation.
